THE BISHOP'S CARRIAGE
One of the things I took very seriously was --
Grandmother Henry gave me a book called The Bishop's Carriage --
She was the kind of woman who did all this sort of thing that was in this book --
Only, she -- hardly anybody except the people involved knew it y'see --
And she'd been in the habit of teaching the people from the neighborhood to read and write.
It seemed like a great thing --
To be like grandmother.
She gave me the book called The Bishop's Carriage.
The author was very very much interested in having children understand that it was part of their responsibility to be -- aware -- to share -- and look out for other people.
I suppose subconsciously I took it very much to heart.
But, my husband was the same way and he didn't have any such book.
So, I don't know.
